i'm invigorated by my students - past, present, and future. here are some student images that have stayed with me from the class i taught last year at BOSS:
each is a picture of risk, imagination, and curiosity. together they commemorate the shouts of triumph i heard when students successfully captured the images they wanted, the enchantment i felt when students discovered something unexpected and cool in images they were ready to delete. i won't forget those moments, or the power and pride in their voices when they claimed their work: i saw that, i made that, that's mine.
collaborations between teachers and students help us own and alter this world we share. though we may enter the school building grumpy and tired, in the afternoon we can fly out from the doors, exultant. we can reframe and refresh our environment, and shift and shake the ground beneath our feet.
to all the incredible students and teachers in my life, here's to the beginning of a new year.
